Dream Within a Dream

2. While I was on my walk I was thinking of a few different things. The first thing that came into my head was baseball. I was thinking how I could better myself so that way I become a better better. The next thing to come into my head was how quiet everything was when I was walking by myself. It was very peaceful. I was also thinking of my Cousin Serinna who is in Palm Springs. Her husband is in the Marines there and  I was just thinking and hoping that they both stay safe. The last thing to come to my head was the camping trip we always take and  I was just thinking of how fun it was.

Dream Within A Dream

From the poem I got that the author puts himself in the poem. The author also puts his own feelings and talks about them in the poem. The poem is also about nature and it makes us feel like everything is calm. It is also about love because he is willing to put his personal feelings inside the poem.

Revision/Strategy

My plan to do better for the next essay is to go over everything more so that way it is fresh in my head. Another thing that I am going to do is look at what types of examples I can use so that way I can use better ones to make my essay flow more. I will also have to work more on my intro and make it better so that way my essay's make more sense. My last thing that I will have to do is to work on time management because I was running short on time during this essay.

Fictional Book

The fictional book that I chose to read was The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The reason I chose The Hunger Games is because I want to compare it to the movie and see what is different and similar. Every time I read a book and watch the movie they are totally different and the movies don't reveal as much as the books do.

"AHA!"

While reading meaning, signs, and symbols I, II, and III I was a bit confused on what it was really trying to show me. After the lesson today I understood more about them. From the lesson I got that a symbol is a special kind of sign and they are usually intentional. A sign is is just something that makes us think of something else.

Young Goodman Brown Symbolism Question

I do not think that the symbolism in Hawthorne's "Young Goodman Brown" is the most important thing that I have learned. I do not think that this is the most important thing that I have learned because I think that there is a lot more important things in the world than a story that basically retails the story of Adam and Eve. It is also not that good of a story and I do not think that it is that interesting and this is another reason why it is not that important.

Young Godman Brown/Meaning Signs and Symbols

1. One symbol that I found was the pink ribbon. The pink ribbon symbolizes love and happiness in the story. The referent of this is that pink ribbon is something you put on close. This interpretation will help me understand the story because the pink ribbon is the only thing that gives Goodman Brown hope because it is the only thing good that stands out in a bright color.

2.Another symbol that I got was the staff that the old man had with him. The staff symbolizes the devil because the staff has carved snake figures around it and the snakes are the devil. The referent of this is a stick that helps people walk. This interpretation helps me understand the story more because the old man with the staff is really the devil and he is trying to bring Faith towards him and away from good.
