Applied Modernism

Modernism

Modernism is the breaking away from classical tradition of literary forms to something different than anyone has read before in the 1900's. In Fahrenheit 451 written by Ray Bradbury is a modernism novel because of the vision of the future and the inner self conflict that Montag faces in the story.

Modernist

My writing in this modern moment would be different from 5 years ago because of the way we use words. Now we have new slave words and back in the day the words we use now are different than what they were 5 years ago.

My Modernist

George Bernard Shaw is the poet that I choose because he cared for woman's rights which shows that he respects women. I would also choose him because when he won the Nobel Prize for literature he did not take the money which shows that he just likes to write.

The First 7 Years

In the beginning of the story I did not think that it was going to be about love. I thought it was going to be about shoes. As the story continued I thought it was interesting because the shoemaker constantly wanted Max to marry his daughter and did not change his mind throughout it. When he has the heart attack I thought that he would keep his word and not go back I work. When he returned and saw the assistant working he had no choice but to accept what was going to happen.

In Mildrid's Parlor

The stage of this is inside Montag and Mildrid's house. Mildrid is with her two friends Mrs. Phelps and Mrs. Bowles. Montag just got back from Faber's house and is very antious because he has the poetry book with him. Motag can't help listen to them anymore and opens the book and reads this poem.

The Man

It's hard to describe how I feel right now
I want to explain it but I don't know how
I can't believe its come to this
it's our world, not just his

no matter how hard we try
the man can never hear us cry
we could scream and yell
but he is in his heaven while we're in our hell

The little boy wants his acceptance
but the man keeps his distance
the little boy has so many "whys?"
but the man won't open his eyes

The little girl just wants her dad
but the man doesn't understand
the little girl just wants to be kissed and hugged
but all the man does is shrug

The woman just wants him
But the light is getting dim
She loves him with all her heart
But the man keeps tearing it apart

no matter how hard we try
he can never hear us cry
we could scream and yell
but he is in his heaven while we're in our hell

I want to know one more thing
with my last bit of strength
is this it? Is this the end?

I would choose this poem to read because it shows how trapped they are and can;t be heard by anyone. IT also relates to Montag because he can't tell anyone what is going on.

I Am Here

So far for this grading period I have done well. I have been doing well in all of my classes and currently have a 4.0. For my smart goal I said I wanted to get into something involving Engineering but I want to go more into the automotive industry instead. I have been doing that by going to my dad's shop more and learning some new things.

Parlor Poetry

Brandbury used the poem Dover Beach because the poem is sad and talks about how the world is calm and sad.

My F451

In the beginning of the story Montag thinks that he is all that and has no problems in his life. This all changes when he meets a girl named Clareese. She starts to make him think about what is really going on and this is what causes Montag to start questioning his way of life. As the story goes on he takes a book from a house and finds out that he has the Bible. He goes to a man called Faber to talk about it and his boss Beatty knows he has the book and gives him 24 hours to burn it. When he doesn't they burn down his house and Montag kills Beatty to escape. As he runs away he looses them and when he does his town is destroyed by a bomb and everyone died but him.

To Modern or Postmodern

If bad writing is boring then it is a description of today's world. If people think the world is stupid then Ellis can write this no problem. Today's times are hard.
Many authors dont want to fix what is wrong when they write. There is irony in a story of a man in prison.
As we get older we are scared to be alone. We will do anything just to fit in with everyone else.
We try to figure out things that can't or shoudn't be figured out.

The Time of My Life

Today in class I believe that I used my time very well. I first wrote my journal then studied for my vocab test which I think I did well on. After that I started reading the pages for homework so that way I could get a head start on my homework. As I was reading I was taking active reading notes to help me.
