Spring Literature Analysis # 2

The Chronicles of Narnia the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

General
1. In the beginning the children are forced to go to a professors house because of the war and while their they discover a wardrobe and it has magical powers. When they arrive in the new world they discover that it is Narnia and that they are all kings and queens of Narnia. They also learn that they must help destroy the White Witch with the help of Aslan who is a king of Narnia as well. As the story comes to a close there is an epic battle between the two sides and the Narnian's win the battle. Many years have passed and the kings and queens come to a lap post that looks familiar to them. When they go to get a closer look they discover that it puts them back through the wardrobe and they are little kids once again.
2. The theme in the book is that there is good and evil always battling between one another and that good will overcome evil if you believe in it.
3.The authors tone is that he want us to feel proud for the children because they take a great responsibility and do what they must do in order to get the best out of their situation.
4. Indirect Characterization is when Peter makes fun of Lucy about the wardrobe being magical and it shows that he does not take her little sister seriously.Imagery is used a lot and it is when Peta and the other children meet all of the different characters. They are all unique in there own way. Symbolism is also used and Alsan symbolizes God because he is the one that every one looks for for help and he has the most powers in the book. The White Witch also symbolizes something and she symbolizes the devil because she is mean and careless for everything and everyone.

Characterization
1. Indirect Characterization is when the children first arrive at the Professors home. They just go with the flow. This shows that they do not want to be their and want to go back home. Another is when Aslan returns. This gives everyone a lot of hope because they needed him to fight. An example of Direct Characterization is when the children are training to fight. This shows that they want to be their.
2.The authors syntax does change for different characters because when the Witch is talking she is mean and when Aslan talks he is more pursuasive and fun to talk to.
3. The protagonists are static because they all have one goal and it is to destroy the White Witch. They are also round because I can get a taste of each of their personalities.
4. After reading the book I felt like I came away knowing Peta because he took charge and protected his siblings.
